Top 10 of 2007 list
— Mark Corroto, allaboutjazz.com

...I prefer his alto sax work in which one can hear hints of the entire history of Jazz. A perfect example is on the lightly swinging "None Left Behind" where his alto suggests Eric Dolphy in those gutteral, intervallic leaps one monent then the next minute oozes out a line sweet enough to remind one of Benny Carter or Johnny Hodges. Recommended totally.
— Larry Hollis, Cadence

Is Selvaggio a better player, composer, or arranger? The answer to all three is yes, as this is a near-perfect recording.

Fronting a capable and sensitive quintet, alto/soprano saxophonist Selvaggio bends the rules to his advantage...music that's thoughtful, slyly subversive, perhaps a wee bit delicate, but hardly conventional.
