| ...I prefer his alto sax work in which one can hear hints of the entire history of Jazz. A perfect example is on the lightly swinging "None Left Behind" where his alto suggests Eric Dolphy in those gutteral, intervallic leaps one monent then the next minute oozes out a line sweet enough to remind one of Benny Carter or Johnny Hodges. Recommended totally. |
