Playscape Recordings will launch its 2010 release schedule on March 16th with the Peter Madsen Trio's The Litchfield Suite (PSR#080308). This is pianist/composer Peter Madsen's third recording for the label following the acclaimed solo piano showcases Sphere Essence: Another Side of Monk and Prevue of Tomorrow. It documents the world premiere of Madsen's six-part titular work at the 2008 Litchfield Jazz Festival and features bassist Andy McKee and drummer Gerald Cleaver.

On February 28th, the Michael Musillami Trio + 3 will perform at New York's Cornelia Street Café. The group, an expanded version of his core trio featuring esteemed frequent collaborators Ralph Alessi (trumpet), Marty Ehrlich (alto saxophone) and Matt Moran (vibraphone), will perform music from its 2009 debut, From Seeds, as well as special arrangements of music from Musillami's forthcoming trio release, Old Tea.

In February, guitarist/composer Michael Musillami's longstanding flagship trio, featuring bassist Joe Fonda and drummer George Schuller, will perform at Boston's Outpost 186 (February 18th) and Rochester's The Bop Shop (February 19th). These two performances, plus a concert by the Michael Musillami Trio + 3 at New York's Cornelia Street Café on February 28th, will be Musillami's last American dates before he and the trio head off to Europe in late May to celebrate the release of their forthcoming April release, Old Tea.

Longtime Playscape Recordings artist Peter Madsen has scheduled two upcoming concerts with his trio, featuring bassist Andy McKee and drummer Gerald Cleaver, in Connecticut. The dates are February 8th at Black-eyed Sally's in Hartford and February 9th at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville. During both concerts, Madsen and the group will preview music from its their CD, The Litchfield Suite, which will be released in March.
