| June 8-9, 2010: Mario Pavone To Unveil New Commissioned Suite at Cornelia Street Café | ||||
| Bassist/composer Mario Pavone and his latest ensemble, Orange Double Tenor, will premiere his new long-form composition, ARC SUITE T/PI T/PO, during its two-night stand at New York's Cornelia Street Café in June. The piece was commissioned by Chamber Music America's 2009 New Jazz Works: Commissioning and Ensemble Development program funded through the generosity of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. On June 10th, the band will head into the studio to record the music for release on Playscape in October to coincide with Pavone's 70th birthday. | ||||

| May 25-June 5, 2010: Michael Musillami Trio's European Tour | ||||
| Guitarist/composer Michael Musillami and his longstanding trio are headed to Europe in late May to celebrate their latest release, Old Tea. The group, featuring bassist Joe Fonda and drummer George Schuller, will play the first two dates on its own before being joined by special guests Marty Ehrlich (alto sax), Ralph Alessi (trumpet) and Matt Moran (vibes) on May 28th in Belgium for the remainder of the tour (with Tim Collins subbing for Moran on the last few stops).

| On Monday, May 3rd at 9:00 p.m., the Michael Musillami Trio will celebrate its new CD, Old Tea, at New York's The Local 269 as part of RUCMA's Evolving Voice/Evolving Music Series. Joining the band will be special guests Marty Ehrlich (alto sax), Ralph Alessi (trumpet) and Matt Moran (vibes), who performed with the trio on their previous release, From Seeds. | ||||

| April 27th is the official street date for the Michael Musillami Trio's Old Tea, the fifth release from guitarist/composer Michael Musillami's acclaimed flagship ensemble since 2002. | March 16th is the official street date for pianist/composer Peter Madsen's latest Playscape release, The Litchfield Suite, documents the live premiere of Madsen's six-part titular work at the 2008 Litchfield Jazz Festival. Critics have called it "easily one of the best recordings of 2010" (Richard Kamins, Step Tempest), "a most successful effort that sounds wonderful from the beginning to the end" (Bruce Lee Gallanter, Downtown Music Gallery) and "a brilliant suite for jazz trio...with surging energies, wide-ranging colors and shifting moods expressed in soulful funk and lyrical impressionism with dramatic intensity" (Owen McNally, Hartford Courant).
